Speaker’s Biography: Andrea Chandler is a Professor in the Department of Political Science at Carleton University. Her teaching and research interests include Russian, post-Soviet and post-communist politics; comparative politics; and gender and social welfare. She is the author of three books, including the recently published Democracy, Gender and Social Policy in Russia: a Wayward Society (Palgrave Macmillan, 2013), a work which presents the results of research funded by a Standard Research Grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.
