The Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies is excited to announce the McMillan Lecture Series, a series of lectures featuring the dynamic professors of our unit as they present on their research in progress. The second lecture in the series on Wednesday, February 24, 2021, at 7:00 pm, will be presented by Dr. J Paul Goode on the topic of “Ghost in the Matryoshka: Nationalism, Authoritarianism, and Artificial Intelligence in Putin’s Russia.”

Dr. Paul Goode is an Associate Professor and the inaugural McMillan Chair of Russian Studies at the Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies. Dr. Goode joined EURUS in January 2021 and this will be his first lecture at the Institute. His current research broadly focuses on nationalism and authoritarianism in Russia and the former Soviet states.
