The Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Canada present:

A Graduate Student Conference on: 

“Russia in the 21st Century: Historical Legacies, Present Challenges and Future Outlook”

President Dmitri Medvedev declared 2012 the Year of Russian History. In celebration of this event, the Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies, in cooperation with the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Canada has organized a Graduate Student Conference on Russia. The conference focuses on the role of Russia in the world from a historical perspective as well as the current political climate and shifting contours of Russia’s identity. Russia’s interactions with its neighbours, including the European Union and the Commonwealth of Independent States, are also addressed.

The conference will be directly followed by a reception at the Russian Embassy at 5:00pm. There will be transportation provided for conference attendees from the River Building to the reception.
