“Mikhail Gorbachev: From Ottawa ’83 to Carleton ’93” – A EURUS at 50 event

The second lecture in our ‘EURUS at 50 Lecture Series,’ “Mikhail Gorbachev: From Ottawa ’83 to Carleton ’93 (and a few things in between),” discusses Gorbachev’s visits to Ottawa and Carleton in 1983 and 1993. Examining his political reformism against the backdrop of the Institute’s history and the late Soviet period, the lecture explores Ottawa’s role in his reputation as one of the most iconic Soviet leaders in the eyes of the West.
