David Long is Professor of International Affairs in the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University.

Professor Long has published widely on the history of international relations theory as well as on the European Union and transatlantic relations. His current research interests include the EU’s foreign and security policy and also the development of the EU’s policy on outer space. He is also working on the concept of interdisciplinary and the early stages of the institutionalization of IR as an academic discipline.

Professor Long teaches courses on the EU, International Relations in Europe, Ethics in International Affairs, Gender in International Affairs, and International Relations Theory. He was President of the European Community Studies Association-Canada from 1999 to 2002.
