History Professor Matthew Bellamy’s Article on Labatt’s Anti-drinking and Driving Campaign Wins Awards

Dr. Mathew Bellamy’s (Department of History) published an article “Business Against Drunk Driving: The Neoliberal State, Labatt Brewery, and the Creation of the ‘Responsible Drinker.‘” won the 2024 Business History Conference’s Philip Scranton Best Article Prize.

The prize recognizes the author or authors of an article published in Enterprise & Society judged to be the best of those that have appeared in the volume previous to the year of the BHC annual meeting.

Enterprise and Society is one of the leading international journals in business history. The article appeared digitally in 2022 and in print in 2023.

Finally, the article previously won Canadian Business History Association’s best article in business history (2023).
