Arts and Social Sciences Researcher Awarded NSERC Alliance Advantage Grant

Congratulations to Koreen Millard (DGES), who was awarded an NSERC Alliance Advantage Grant. In partnership with the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC), Millard’s project aims to improve the ability of conservation managers to make informed decisions by harnessing information acquired from earth observation data. By improving field data collection protocols, developing best practices for high-resolution mapping, adapting or creating new open-source monitoring and change direction tools, and developing remote sensing techniques to better estimate carbon stocks in above-ground biomass, this project will enable land-based conservation practices to better protect our increasingly threatened biodiversity.

NSERC Alliance Advantage Grants support partner-driven projects that generate new knowledge/technology to address complex challenges and result in economic, environmental, and/or other societal benefits.
