The pandemic has disrupted many aspects of our programming over the last two years, but we have been able to provide a robust roster of events this year. We have hosted Feminist Futures lectures by our new faculty members Manjeet Birk and Fady Shanouda and a discussion in connection with the September 30 National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. We marked International Women’s Day on March 8 by hosting a celebration of the writings of bell hooks and Lee Maracle.
On March 22 we hosted Canada Research Chair in Black Studies at Queen’s University, Katherine McKittrick, for our 2022 Flo Bird Lecture in a conversation about her book Dear Science and Other Stories and her institutional work in Black Studies. And on May 6-7, our graduate students hosted a conference titled “Communal Conversations: A Roundtable Symposium on the Future of Knowledge-Making” with presentations by Carleton students and community members.
We look forward to hosting more events in 2022-23. Stay tuned!
