Welcome to Carleton University!

The Global Opportunities & International Student Services Office is excited to welcome all new undergraduate, graduate & study abroad joining Carleton University this Fall 2025. As part of our International Welcome Orientation for new international students, we have an engaging and informative program planned.

On August 29th, 2025, you will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of events, workshops, and activities designed to enhance your transition to campus life and support your success as a Carleton University student. Orientation is free of charge and aims to provide you with valuable resources, insights, and lasting connections.

During International Welcome Orientation, you can look forward to:

Connecting with fellow international students through ice-breakers, socials, and events
Discovering Carleton and Ottawa through a range of activities aimed to explore and familiarize yourself with Carleton University and the vibrant city of Ottawa
Learning about available resources tailored to support the needs of our international student community
Developing essential skills to equip you with the necessary social, cultural, and academic skills for a successful transition to university life
Exploring the key themes of culture, academics, community resources, social connection, transition, and immigration, all of which contribute to the overall success of our international student community

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ORIENTATION DAY

Location: Richcraft Hall
Description: Welcome Global Ravens! Start your journey at Carleton University with a full day of activities intended to prepare you for your academic, social, and cultural transition. Participate in workshops developed by campus experts, share a meal with us, meet new students, and discover campus resources at our Campus Services Fair.
Please note:
- Registration opens at 9:00am
- Please be sure to indicate if you are bringing a guest (maximum of 1 guest permitted) to this event
- Daycare will not be provided
- Campus Tour after Orientation Session

I-Start International Orientation: 2025-2026

We strongly encourage you to sign up for I-Start, our free online orientation mini-course created specifically for new international students at Carleton University.

It’s a great way to get a head start on your journey—learn about important topics like academics, campus life, health insurance, immigration, and more, all before you arrive.
You’ll also have the chance to join Global Ravens Chat, informal online meetups led by a student staff member. These chats are a great opportunity to ask questions, talk through the modules, and start building a sense of community by connecting with other international students who are also new to Carleton. This orientation has been designed to meet the needs of all international students.

It’s the perfect way to feel more prepared, more confident, and more connected before the semester begins!

Get credit.Students who complete the course will be eligible for credit on their Co-Curricular Record, a system Carleton uses to record involvement.
