Summer Readathon

Throughout the month of August, Healthy Workplace is hosting a Summer Readathon. The purpose of this initiative is to encourage members of the Carleton faculty and staff community to read!

Studies have shown the many benefits of reading, with common themes being reading as a form of self-care or as a meaningful way to support your mental health and spend quality time with yourself.  Whether you’re immersing yourself in a fantasy world or getting lost in a summer rom-com, reading provides the opportunity to unwind and de-stress all while learning something new. Reading is also a great way to expand your vocabulary, explore different parts of the world through the experiences of others, and improve your communication and conversational skills.

The Summer Readathon is an opportunity to connect with others in the Carleton community over a shared love for books. If you’ve been looking for a sign to put down your smartphone, disconnect, and snuggle up with a good book, this is it!

Below are summer reading prompts to guide your book adventures this month should you be looking for some inspiration.

A Group Book Chat via Microsoft Teams will be created for participants to stay connected, discuss bookish things, and update the community on how your reading is going.

AND, YOU CAN WIN PRIZES!

Every registered participant will be entered into weekly draws. A name will be drawn every Wednesday and Friday throughout the month of August and the winner will be contacted by email.

Please complete the registration form below to be added to the Teams Book Chat as well as to be entered to win the weekly prizes.

Happy Reading!
