History PhD student, Melissa Armstrong, has won a prestigious Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship worth $50,000 per year for three years.  She will use her funding to  travel to South Africa to pursue research into the genesis and growth of the health department of the African National Congress.

Armstrong came to Carleton to study with Professor Susanne Klausen, an expert in South African medical history, and to benefit from networks and contacts in Carleton’s Institute of African Studies.
