Melissa Armstrong, a doctoral student in the History Department, was awarded a silver medal on Sunday at the Pan Am games in Toronto as a relief pitcher on the Canadian women’s baseball team. This was the first time women’s baseball was included in a multisport event, like the Pan Am Games, and the team made it to the final game, when they lost 11-3 to the United States.
