Pitcher Melissa Armstrong, a Ph.D. History student at Carleton University, helped Canada win the silver medal at the World Baseball Confederation’s World Cup in Gijang City, Korea.
Armstrong pitched 5.2 innings in three games, posted a 2.47 ERA and had a 1-0 record.
Last year, Armstrong was a pitcher during the Pan Am Games – the team won silver.
Armstrong was part of Carleton’s CU75 campaign in 2015.
She also won a Vanier award in 2014 – one of the most prestigious awards given to PhD students.
