book coverProfessor Audra Diptee has recently published an article entitled “The Problem of Modern Day Slavery: Is Critical Applied History the Answer?” in the journal Slavery & Abolition.  Her article proposes a methodology that better enables historians to engage with contemporary issues such as human trafficking.  This is part of her larger project History as Weapon: Writing Radical Caribbean Histories.  In 2018,  Dr. Diptee will be developing her ideas on history and modern-day slavery further at the Bellagio Center in Italy as she was recently awarded a Rockefellar Residency Writing Fellowship.
