The conference was: Monde du vin, réseaux et échelles: Intermédiation dans la production, distribution et la consommation du vin/Wine worlds, networks and scales: Intermediation in the production, distribution and consumption of wine.

It drew participants from throughout Europe, as well as the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Professor Phillips’s paper was entitled, “Negotiating God, the weather, and merchants: the priest of Volnay (Burgundy) and the wine business in the 18th century”/”Traiter avec Dieu, la météo et les négociants: le curé de Volnay et le marché du vin au XVIIIe siècle.”

It was drawn from a book he is writing on the history of wine and place in Burgundy.
