Professor Rod Phillips, a specialist in the history of wine, was interviewed by The Local, a French English-language news network, on Beaujolais Nouveau wine. This is a young (nouveau) wine from the Beaujolais wine region, released for sale each year on the third Thursday of November – 17 November, this year. Some 30 million bottles are produced, and 12 million of them are exported by air so that people everywhere – from Canada to Morocco, from Spain to South Africa – can buy it on the same day.
It’s a controversial wine. Some people think is simply bad, while many people enjoy it for its fruitiness and brightness. It’s a wine for quaffing with friends.
Rod was asked for his views of Beaujolais Nouveau, and you can see his reply here.
