Co-op
Co-op admission timeframes
– Early September (first work term begins in January)
– Early January (first work term begins in May)
– Early May (first work term begins in September)
To be eligible for admission to Co-op, students must:
- be enrolled in the Master of Infrastructure Protection and International Security
- have successfully completed, by the end of their first term of academic study, at least 1.5 credits toward the M.IPIS
- have successfully completed, by the start-date of the first work term, a total of 3.0 credits toward the M.IPIS; 1.5 of which must be core compulsory credits;
- be registered as a full-time student in each academic term prior to a work term;
- be eligible to work in Canada (for off-campus work terms)
IPIS 5913 [0.0] Co-operative Work Term is in addition to the 5.0 credits required for the IPIS program – Two (2) co-op terms must be successfully completed before the student is eligible to receive a co-op designation on their academic transcript. Work terms are four months in duration, and students who are successful in obtaining a placement can typically find work in either government or the private sector. Information and procedures can be obtained from the Carleton University Co-op Office.
