Webinar Description

The Organizational Excellence team at Virginia Tech consults and partners with senior leaders to address complex challenges and needs across the university in service of strategic goals and transformative outcomes. We recognize that we will be best positioned for success in transformation, change, organizational development, and ongoing improvement efforts when supported by established models and methodologies. However, most existing organizational excellence and effectiveness models have been borne out of manufacturing and production industries rather than the complex knowledge and discovery industry in which we operate in higher education. This led the Organizational Excellence team to research and develop a tailored model for Organizational Excellence in their work at Virginia Tech – one that would advance the organization in a people-forward way with well-established interconnected areas and key components that work together toward strengthened organizational outcomes.

This event will look at why Virginia Tech undertook this process, what aspects of an Organizational Excellence model were important, the process for researching and evaluating existing models, and the model that has been adopted. We’ll facilitate discussion at the end of the presentation about needs and challenges in advancing organizational transformation efforts and how a supported, tailored model can help these efforts.

Virginia Tech Presenters:
Amy Hogan, Executive Director
Dr. Robert Knee, Transformation Leader
Lars Schmidt, Transformation Facilitator
