Help Recruit Ontario’s First Chief Science Officer
Ontario is seeking public input on the skills and experience they would like to see in the province’s first Chief Science Officer, and how this role could strengthen science and innovation across the province. This may be a good opportunity to indicate the province the desired skills and abilities that this executive position must have. Particularly considering that this role may entail, in a near future, guiding the province in matters such as immigration policy.
Feedback generated will be used to develop the mandate and help decide how the Chief Science Officer will:
- Help the government make decisions on science-based policy issues by relying on evidence and research
- Accelerate Ontario’s science and research
- Develop the long-term vision and strategic research agenda for Ontario to help address challenges and reach scientific frontiers in Canada and around the world
- Cement Ontario’s reputation as a jurisdiction that believes investing in knowledge and science is the key to success and prosperity
People can share their feedback online at Ontario.ca/ChiefScienceOfficer or via email by March 27, 2017. Ontario will report back on what we heard during this consultation in spring 2017.
