Postcolonial/Decolonial Reading Group

Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 5:30 pm to 12:00 am

The first reading group gathering of 2018 will take place in two weeks on Thursday, February 8th, at 5:30 PM, in Dunton Tower, room 1212. 

We are honoured that the author of this gathering’s chosen texts, Professor Zoe Todd, will be joining our discussion. You can find out more about Professor Todd here: https://carleton.ca/socanth/people/todd-zoe/

We will be reading the following texts:

“Fish Pluralities: Human-Animal Relations and Sites of Engagement in Paulatuuq, Arctic Canada.” Études/inuit/studies 38, no. 1/2 (2014): 217-238.

“Fish, Kin and Hope: Tending to Water Violations in Amiskwaciwâskahikan and Treaty Six Territory.” Afterall: A Journal of Art, Context, and Inquiry 43, no. 1 (2017): 102-107.

There will also be snacks and refreshments. Please RSVP so we know how many people to expect.

Please also mark in your calendars that the next reading group will be three weeks later, on Thursday March 1st, with Professor Julie Tomiak, same time and location.
