Graduate student information/brainstorming pizza lunch

Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 am

September 17

The Migration and Diaspora Studies initiative at Carleton is organizing a graduate student information/brainstorming pizza lunch on Thursday 17 September 2015 at 12:00 p.m. in St Patrick’s Building (room 201). R.S.V.P. required.

Please join us to hear about the graduate student colloquium, $20,000 graduate student fellowship and other resources that the Migration and Diaspora Studies Initiative currently offers. Most importantly, we would like to hear your ideas about how MDS can help with:

– regular meet ups to discuss news and current affairs;

– professional development workshops aimed at writing SSHRC/OGS grant applications

– mock job talks and teaching workshops

– bringing in your favorite guest speakers and keynotes

– funding your interesting ideas, and help you develop them further

– linking you up with existing reading groups, or maybe start your own

– building interdisciplinary connections across our research community, neighborhood cafes (and pubs…)

If you know of other graduate students who are interested in Migration and Diaspora Studies, refugee communities, transnational identities and other related fields of inquiry, please forward this invitation to them and make sure to let us know that you’re coming by filling out this doodle. We just need to make sure there’s enough pizza and soft drinks to fuel the discussion 🙂
