October 28: Book launch: Forced Migration in/to Canada: From Colonization to Refugee Resettlement
Join us for discussion and light refreshments to celebrate the publication of this exciting new collection that brings critical new perspectives on Canada as a site of forced migration and provides the tools we need to evaluate information we encounter in the news and from government officials, colleagues, and non-governmental organizations. The event will feature discussion with editor Christina R. Clark-Kazak, contributors Martha Alexandra Vargas Aguirre, Yin Yuan Chen, Amrita Hari, Rachel McNally, and David Moffette, and discussant Laura Madokoro.
A light lunch will be provided.
November 07: MDS Career Pathways
Join MDS Graduate Students for an informal evening chat about the career pathways and opportunities available in MDS graduate programs and their own unique career development experiences with various organizations. You will hear about MDS student experiences in internships, exchanges, and co-op and practicum placements and have a chance to engage in an open Q & A.

November 25: Discussion with UNHCR’s Madeline Garlick: Critical Themes in Global Forced Migration Policy Today
Join members of the Migration and Diaspora Studies program, Carleton University, and the Local Engagement Refugee Research Network (LERRN) for a discussion on critical themes in global forced migration protection policy and the role of research in responding to these themes. This event is being organized in collaboration with UNHCR Canada in the context of the Sergio Vieira de Mello Chair program.
