Description of Research: My thesis research aims to contribute to the growing critique of the ‘victimization’ framing of female refugees, and its harms towards the identity construction and agency of female refugees. Through a case study of Refugee Olympic Team athlete Cindy Ngamba, who won the team’s first medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, I seek to identify evolving media discourses and highlight the impacts of positive framing on identity construction of female refugees.
