A Camp for Singer-Songwriters and Instrumentalists
July 21st to 25th, 2025
Welcome to the website for Carleton University’s new Song-to-Stage Camp! The S2S camp is opportunity for musicians 12 years and older to come and hone their skills in songwriting and performance on voice or any instrument.
This camp is designed for all levels from beginner to advanced, and intergenerational learning is encouraged. Our award-winning and experienced instructors can work with those who are just getting started, and those who are more experienced. Our programming is suitable for students from middle school, high school, university level, and adults through to seniors. Singer-songwriters, singers and instrumentalists are all welcome!
Camp Activities
Students will have options to participate in a variety of activities:
- Mentored and collaborative songwriting
- Lyric-writing techniques
- Pop, rock, folk, and jazz combos
- R&B ensemble
- Vocal training
- Instrumental and singer-songwriting masterclasses
- Ear training
- Open mics and jam sessions
- Introduction to the music industry
- Songwriters’ circles
Camp Hours and Concerts
Camp hours are Monday to Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m, with optional supplemental programming beginning at 8:30 a.m.; Friday is extended until 6 p.m.
Songwriter’s circle and faculty concerts are held Monday to Thursday at 3:15–4:30. Final concerts for all camp participants to perform will be held on Friday afternoon, ending by 6 p.m. All concerts are free and open to the public, but donations to fund student scholarships will be welcomed at all concerts.
Concerts are held in Kailash Mital Theatre in Southam Hall on the Carleton University campus. Ensembles from the camp will get a chance to perform for family, friends and the general public.
