Dear cuNorth members,

The Ottawa-Carleton Student Northern Research Symposium (OCSNRS) is an annual 1-day symposium where natural and social science students present their northern research progress or results.  Each year Carleton University and the University of Ottawa alternate the organizing responsibilities of this student-run symposium.  The 2018 OCSNRS will be hosted by Carleton University, and it usually takes place in late February or early March each year.

The Northern Research Committee is seeking graduate student volunteers to form an organizing committee for the 2019 Symposium.  Some planning activities need to begin in November, but most of the organizing efforts are in relation to reviewing abstracts and organizing sessions in January and February.

Please contact me by November 9 if you are interested in contributing to this important event.  It’s a great opportunity to network with other students and faculty across departments at Carleton and Ottawa U, and to gain experience with committee work and event organization.

For more information on the OSCNRS, and past symposiums, please visit https://carleton.ca/northernresearch/ocsnrs/.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely, Gita
Northern Research Committee Chair
