The Ottawa-Carleton Student Northern Research Symposium (OCSNRS) was designed to give uOttawa and Carleton students the space to present their ideas and research in a low-stress and supportive conference setting. This event is open to undergraduate and graduate students conducting research in the Arctic, Subarctic, or Antarctic.
The conference aims to:
- Offer students the opportunity to present their research and ideas in a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Facilitate scholarly communication among students and faculty.
Le Symposium pour Étudiants en Recherches Nordiques Ottawa-Carleton (SÉRNOC) a été conçu afin d’offrire l’espace nécessaire aux étudiant.e.s de L’Université d’Ottawa et de Carleton pour présenter leurs idées et leurs recherches dans un environnement encourageant et sans-stress. Cet événement est ouvert aux étudiants de premier cycle et des cycles supérieurs effectuant des recherches dans l’Arctique, le subarctique ou l’Antarctique.
La conférence vise à:
- Offrir aux étudiants la possibilité de présenter leurs recherches et leurs idées dans un environnement encourageant, inclusif et sans-stress;
- Faciliter la communication scientifique entre les étudiant.e.s et les professeur.e.s.
Dear students,
The Ottawa-Carleton Student Northern Research Symposium is an annual, one-day conference where students from Carleton University and the University of Ottawa connect, present their research, and learn from each other. We have accepted abstracts from undergraduate and graduate students from a wide variety of disciplines relevant to polar regions.
David Hik, Chief Scientist & V.P. Research at Polar Knowledge Canada, will be giving the keynote presentation. The the schedule for the day can be downloaded here and the book of abstracts is available here.

Dear students,
We are now accepting abstracts for the Ottawa-Carleton Student Northern Research Symposium (OCSNRS), hosted by Carleton University on March 7, 2025.
The OCSNRS is an annual, one-day conference which brings together students from the University of Ottawa and Carleton University who are involved in northern research. It provides an opportunity for students to present their research, network, and to widen their knowledge of the north. Students from any discipline are welcome, given their research involves the geographic north. Presentations may range from project proposals to complete research projects.

Nous acceptons maintenant les résumés pour le Symposium Étudiant de Recherche Nordique d’Ottawa-Carleton (SERNOC), qui aura lui à Carleton University le 7 mars 2025.
Le SRNEOC est une conférence annuelle d’une journée qui rassemble les étudiants de l’Université d’Ottawa et de Carleton University qui participent aux études nordiques. Il s’agit d’une opportunité pour les étudiants de présenter leur recherche, faire du réseautage et approfondir leur connaissance du Nord. Les étudiants de toutes disciplines confondues sont les bienvenus, tant que leur recherche concerne le nord géographique. Les présentations peuvent autant être des propositions de projet que des projets de recherche complets.
