The McIntyre Examination Centre (MEC)
The McIntyre Exam Centre (MEC), a division within Scheduling and Examination Services (SES), provides a range of in-person and online exam services to help course instructors with the accommodation of students registered with the Paul Menton Centre. MEC has two examination locations on campus: 133 Nideyinàn and 7th Floor of Dunton Tower.
In order for students to write their tests and exams at MEC with accommodations, they must follow the recommended processes for requesting accommodations at the beginning of the term, and managing exam accommodations throughout the term.
Managing Your Exam Accommodations
Once a Notice of Examination (NoE) has been submitted by your professor to the McIntyre Exam Centre for an upcoming test or exam, it is your responsibility to manage your accommodations.
Five Steps to Managing your Accommodations for a Test or Exam
1. Verify that your accommodations are accurate for an upcoming test or exam.
If the accommodations are not accurate, make the necessary adjustment(s) in Ventus at least ten (10) business days before the test or exam. After the 10-business-day deadline, contact your PMC coordinator to make adjustments. Note that MEC is not able to accommodate requests for test or exam accommodations made less than five (5) business days before the test or exam.
2. Opt-Out (if the accommodations are not needed).
If you would prefer to write an upcoming test or exam scheduled at the McIntyre Exam Centre without accommodation(s), you can opt out in Ventus up to ten (10) business days before the date of the test or exam. After the 10-business-day deadline, email your PMC coordinator to opt out/cancel your accommodations.
3. Verify your exam and accommodation details in Ventus three (3) days before each test or exam.
You will find these details in Ventus Student Portal in the “Exams” tab, including course, exam type, location, scheduled date, start time, end time, and status. Ventus will automatically send a confirmation email to your cmail address three (3) days before an upcoming test or exam.
4. Attend your test or exam on the scheduled date.
Make sure to arrive 15 minutes early.
5. Report any problems or issues that you experience(d)…
