Looking for a quick way to get your term started with the PMC? Here is a to-do list of things you should do every term to ensure you academic accommodations and support services are in place.
Important Deadlines
Accommodation Deadlines
You should request accommodations on Ventus at the beginning of every term or at least 14 calendar days before a test or exam in a course. You only need to request accommodations one time per course, per term.
Deadlines to request accommodations for final examinations if you have not already requested accommodations for the term:
- June 1, 2024 for June final exams;
- August 1, 2024 for August final exams;
- October 1, 2024 for early fall final exams in Oct/Nov;
- November 15, 2024 for December final exams;
- February 1, 2025 for early winter final exams in Feb/Mar;
- March 15, 2025 for April final exams.
PMC-Administered Awards
Applications for PMC-administered awards fall into one of three deadlines: May 31, August 31, and October 31. Information about individual awards, eligibility criteria, and applications can be found on our Financial Aid webpage.
Student Responsibilities
In order to make the most of what PMC offers, these are the things we’ll need from you:
Request accommodations at the beginning of every term.
- Review the course outlines for each of your courses; make note of evaluation requirements;
- Request accommodations using the Ventus Student Portal. (Login using your MyCarletonOne account.)
- Select ONLY applicable accommodations for each course from your template accommodations using the 5-step process.
- Some accommodations are self-serve and pre-approved while other are pending and require approval from your PMC Coordinator.
- Once you have made your selections, your approved accommodations for a course will show up in your professor’s Ventus Faculty Portal.
Follow up with your professors, lab instructors and TAs.
- Introduce yourself and confirm that they can see your approved accommodations in their Ventus Faculty Portal.
- Discuss accommodations that are applicable to each course in consideration of delivery and evaluation methods.
- Discuss how your accommodations will be arranged.
Note that you are not required to disclose the nature of your disability at any time.
Manage your accommodations for every test or exam scheduled by the McIntyre Examination Centre (MEC)
Once a Notice of Examination (NoE) has been submitted by your professor to MEC for an upcoming test or exam, it is your responsibility to manage your accommodations.
- Follow the easy 5-step process for managing your exam accommodations outlined on the Ventus Help website. Consult the corresponding FAQ for additional information.
-
Frequently monitor the “Upcoming exams with academic accommodations” sections in the Ventus Dashboard for any update or action that requires your immediate attention.
Contact your PMC Coordinator immediately if there are any problems or concerns with your accommodations during the term.
PMC Coordinator Support
Your PMC Coordinator is the go-to person for coordinating your academic accommodations and support services at PMC. Please reach out to your PMC Coordinator if you need advice, information or support. You may want to reach out to your PMC about about things such as:
- Assistance with resolving a situation or issue related to your accommodations and/or access to services and facilities on campus.
- Referral to PMC Learning Strategy (LS) Facilitator, Assistive Technologist (AT) and Counselling Interns.

- Information on employment support, classroom accessibility, and financial aids for students with disabilities.
- Referral to academic, mental health, and campus life services on campus.
- Any situation in which you encounter a barrier related to your disability, and need advice on how to resolve it.
