Awarded on the recommendation of the Director of the Paul Menton Centre, to up to three outstanding undergraduate students with a demonstrated permanent disability who are enrolled in any program of study at Carleton University. Eligible students will be Canadian citizens. Preference will be given to students in financial need. This scholarship may be renewable for up to 3 consecutive years of full-time enrolment at a value of $6,000 per year. Established in 2019 by the Walker Wood Foundation. Revised 2023.
This award may be renewed for 3 consecutive years of full-time enrolment (minimum of 3.0 credits over the Fall/Winter session). This award is valued at up to $6,000 the first year and renewable at $6,000 for 3 years. Established in 2019 by the Walker Wood Foundation.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must…
- be a Canadian citizen;
- have a documented permanent disability;
- be registered with the Paul Menton Center;
- demonstrate good academic standing;
- be an undergraduate student in first year and pursuing post-secondary studies for the first time;
- demonstrate financial need.
- Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate academic promise and leadership, participation in extra-curricular secondary school activities or community service
- Preference may be given to students who are passionate about advocating for disabilities
