Currently Morna Ballantyne is the Executive Director of Child Care Now, Canada’s national child care advocacy organization. She brings to the Work and Labour Advisory Board more than thirty years of experience working in Canada’s labour movement, as well as many years of experience working in the community for social justice. She served in senior staff positions with the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) until 2009, and then with the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) until her retirement from that union. She has worked as a union organizer, negotiator, researcher and labour educator. Morna worked as an assistant to Judy Darcy during her tenure as CUPE National President, and then as the Director of CUPE’s union development department for six years. At PSAC she served in various senior advisory roles to the PSAC National President. She teaches Theory and Practice of Trade Unionism twice a year at the Labour College of Canada, and is regularly called upon by private and public sector unions in Canada and internationally to assist with various projects.
