May 3, 2018
To All Members of the Carleton Community,
It is my pleasure to announce that Linda Schweitzer has agreed to continue to serve as Interim Dean in the Sprott School of Business for the 2018-‘19 academic year. She began as interim dean in June 2017 with my transition to provost. Her appointment for an additional year will give the faculty a period of stability and leadership while we conduct a new search for a dean.
Schweitzer is an associate professor at Sprott. She previously held the positions of associate dean, Research and External, and associate dean, MBA. Her main areas of research concern gender and inter-generational differences and their impacts on workplace dynamics and managing people. She holds a BEng and an MBA from Concordia University and a PhD in Management from Carleton.
We will be inviting nominations for the Sprott Advisory Decanal Search Committee. The committee will have an initial meeting in late May to meet with the search consultant, Laverne Smith, from Laverne Smith and Associates Inc., and to start the process. It will reconvene in early September 2018, and will aim to make a recommendation to the president by February 2019 for an appointment to begin on July 1, 2019.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Schweitzer on this extension of her appointment and thanking her for agreeing to take on this decanal role.
Jerry Tomberlin Interim Provost and Vice-President (Academic)
