Brief description of what I do!

I currently work at the intersection of healthcare, data analytics, and privacy, specializing in statistical re-identification risk assessment across multiple jurisdictions. I also work in a consulting capacity with organizations, such as pharmaceutical companies, to develop privacy frameworks that support regulatory compliance. In addition to my technical work, I lead teams and provide methodology training to support professional development and best practices across projects.

What inspired your career path after graduation?

After graduation, I worked in clinical research at The Royal Ottawa Hospital with patients experiencing depression and schizophrenia for three years. In this role, I was able to apply many of the concepts and skills I learned in Carleton University’s Psychology program, which I greatly enjoyed. Through this experience, I discovered my passion for healthcare and data analytics, which ultimately led me to pursue a career with a stronger focus on both fields.

How did your experience in the psychology program shape your journey?

All the courses I took in Psychology ignited my passion for empirical research. The hands-on research experience I gained at Carleton deepened my understanding and fueled my passion for research. This passion led me to work at The Royal’s Institute of Mental Health Research after graduation, where I was able to apply many of the concepts and skills I learned at Carleton.

What skills or experiences were most valuable after graduation?

Critical thinking, statistical analysis, and the ability to learn.

Are there specific Psychology courses, professors, or experiences that stood out during your time at Carleton?

Chris Motz’s Introduction to Psychology was the course that inspired me to switch my major to Psychology, a decision that was truly life-changing. I am also deeply grateful to Dr. Monique Sénéchal and Dr. Jo-Anne LeFebvre for providing invaluable hands-on research opportunities and mentorship throughout my studies.

What has been a highlight or proud moment in your career so far?

A highlight of my career has been the opportunity to contribute to real-world research in healthcare settings, particularly work involving patients with complex mental health conditions. Applying the statistical and research methods I learned at Carleton to generate meaningful clinical insights and improve patient outcomes has been incredibly rewarding.
