The School of Computer Science have invested resources into GPU computing by purchasing the world’s most powerful Volta-based graphics card made for the PC.
The NVIDIA Titan V GPU cards will be used by Carleton University Data Science courses in the areas of Big Data, Machine Learning, Artifical Intelligence, computer vision and related fields. The school has integrated the Titan V cards in its Open Stack cloud infrastructure. Students in a Data Science course are able to launch an Open Stack Virtual Machine that has the Titan V GPU card installed. This facilitates easy access and sharing of the computing resources.
The Titan V cards have 3D stacked memory, 110 Deep Learning teraflops of computational power, 21 billion transistors, 12GB frame buffer, 640 Tensor Cores, and 5120 CUDA Cores.
