Cybersecurity Challenge

November 23, 2019

Cost:Free

What:  One-day cyber security challenge to win one of several cybersecurity intern/coop positions
When:  Saturday November 23, 2019
Where:  Carleton University
Who:  Eight teams of undergrads (2 teams from Carleton)

Cyber Security Challenge Canada will host the event on November 23, 2019 at Carleton University.  This is the fourth year that this even has taken place.

Teams of up to 4 undergrads will compete to recon a vulnerable computer network, break through the cyber defenses, take control of the systems, and advise the company on how to defend against cyber attacks.  Finalists will then do on-site interviews with the sponsoring companies.

As prizes, sponsors have each committed to offering fully paid intern/coop position in their IT Security departments, doing serious IT security work (starting at a mutually convenient date and lasting 4 to 8 months depending on the student’s schedule).

Carleton can enter TWO teams of students.  Only students who are seriously interested in an internship and are eligible to work in Canada should participate.  The level of knowledge required is probably at the 3rd/4th year level with some security/linux knowledge, and preference will be given to students meeting these criteria if more than 8 students are interested.
