There are people in our lives – mentors, champions, supporters – who at critical moments provide the right balance of encouragement, challenge and support to lift us to new heights; to help us realize that hard work and supportive networks will enable each of us to reach our potential in our personal and professional lives. SPPA Professor Glen Toner is one of these people.

Glen has had a significant influence on the students he has taught over the years. Those who have come under his tutelage have gone on to achieve many successes including becoming DGs, ADMs, DMs, Association Presidents, Corporate VPs, Professors and NGO leaders.

Glen is entering the final phase of his career and to demonstrate our appreciation, several former SPPA graduates and faculty have launched the Dr. Glen Toner Scholarship campaign through the Carleton’s Department of University Advancement FutureFunder crowd sourcing platform. Help us reach our 2019 goal of $100,000! Every dollar raised by SPPA Alumni and others from the community will be matched by Carleton University, and your contributions will receive a charitable tax donation receipt.

When funded, the Dr. Glen Toner Scholarship will be awarded annually to outstanding full-time SPPA students studying environment and sustainable energy policy. The award will be an ongoing tribute to Glen’s work in sustainable energy and environmental policy and ensure the recipients are able to focus on their schoolwork and leadership development.

This website is dedicated to our fundraising efforts. It is a space to learn about Glen’s career and share your memories of your time at Carleton.

The School would like to thank the committee behind this initiative. Our students will always benefit from the continued engagement and commitment of our outstanding alumni!
