Art History Instagram
As the social media coordinator for the Art History department and as a university student I spend a lot of time online, specifically on Instagram. One of the things I’ve always loved about art history is just how fun it is and with social media art history has become funny and given us a new platform to learn. I’m sure everyone has spend hours procrastinating by scrolling through Facebook and Instagram so I wanted to share some of my favourite art related Instagram accounts to get everyone through these last few weeks of term.
The first is a relatively new account, @ArtGarments that frames intricate garment details and style notes from classical paintings merging art and fashion.

One of my personal favourites is @MeanGirlsArtHistory that brings together great paintings with quotes from the movie Mean Girls.

Another fun account is @ArtHistorySnaps that is “de-stuffifying art history.” If you don’t already follow the Los Angeles Country Museum of Art (LACMA) on Snapchat you should for all their hilarious art snaps.

Of course you should follow our own Carleton University Art Gallery @CUArtGallery to see all the latest art exhibitions and events going on at CUAG.

You can also follow Carleton University’s Art History department on Instagram @CarletonUArtHistory for everything art history at Carleton including photos of art around Ottawa and news about events.

Happy scrolling!
