Welcome to the beginning of a new season of the RENDER Blog!

Created as a complement to RENDER: the Carleton Journal of Art and Visual Culture, the RENDER blog is in its second season. Let me start by introducing myself: my name is Emily and I am a second year Masters candidate in Art History at Carleton. You can read about my research here. Taking over from the impressive Manon Gaudet who recently graduated from Carleton’s Art History Masters program and who is now an intern at the Getty Foundation in Los Angeles, I am thrilled to take the reins as Editor. Joining me as Assistant Editor is Katie Kendall, a first year Masters Candidate in Art History.

This season on the RENDER blog, readers will continue to see articles about art and visual culture. These articles will, hopefully, move in and out of scholarship, popular culture, and the practicality of Carleton’s graduate Art History program. We have a couple interviews planned with dynamic graduates of our program, more thoughtful contributions from our undergraduate contributor, Jimena Martinez Gerhard, and are hoping to launch a RENDER podcast in the next couple months. Coming up will also be a short series, “Art @ Work,” chronicling the practicum experience of some of our Masters students, as well as research profiles and catalogue entries of art written by students.

If you would like to contribute to RENDER or have any suggestions for us, you can email us at render.journal@gmail.com.

All the Best,

Emily Putnam
