Join Career Services for an engaging evening focused on exploring careers and trends in the mental health field. A panel of professionals will share their insights, experiences, and perspectives on working in this important sector. After the discussion, you will have the chance to connect with panelists and other attendees for networking.

Panelists

Sgt. Richardson – Ottawa Police Service

The Ottawa Police Service employs over 2,100 officer and civilian employees. Their Mental Health Crisis Unit (MHU) and its partners from The Ottawa Hospital’s Mobile Crisis Team (MCT) collaborate daily to support members of our community that are in crisis or require urgent connection to mental health support and resources. The mental health professionals of the Mobile Crisis Team and the specially trained officers of the Mental Health Crisis Unit routinely conduct visits in the community together to assist those in crisis

Allison Kenney, Program Director – MacKay Manor

MacKay Manor Inc provides multi-tiered addiction recovery support and services to individuals throughout their recovery process. Their vision is that each individual reaching out for support will be welcomed and leave with a deeper connection to their own wellness and recovery. MacKay Manor Inc has one in patient recovery home program and three outpatient community based programs.

Networking

In addition to the panelists listed above, the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre (DSYTC) will also be joining for the networking component of the event. Located in Ottawa the Dave Smith Youth Treatment Centre (DSYTC) is a non-profit, live-in, and community-based agency that is dedicated to helping youth (13-21) and families across Ontario overcome substance use and related issues and to achieve a healthier lifestyle. With separate evidence-based programs tailored to the specific needs of youth, it is the only centre of its kind in Eastern Ontario.
