Amie Kreppel, University of Florida

Dr. Kreppel examines the formal and informal relationship between the executive and legislative branches of the EU before and after the Lisbon Treaty. The goal of the analysis is to gain better insight into the underlying institutional structure of the EU political system as a whole, and the likely consequences of the changing character of the executive-legislative relationship for the policy process. In particular, the lack of clarity within the executive branch, exacerbated by the Lisbon Treaty, and the possible negative implications that result are analyzed.

Amie Kreppel is Director of the Center for European Studies at the University of Florida. She has written extensively on the political institutions of the European Union, with a particular focus on the European Parliament.
