The mandate of the Centre for European Studies is fourfold:
Research: To support research activities in the field of European Studies and to sponsor research publications, such as policy briefs and books resulting from annual research conferences.
Teaching: To support the teaching programs in the field of European Studies by sponsoring visiting scholars, new courses, student research abroad, and extra-curricular activities to enhance the exposure of students to the field.
Outreach: To sponsor talks and other academic events in the field of European Studies that are open to the public, the academic community, and the policy community.
Partnerships: To create fruitful cooperation with European partner universities, other Jean Monnet Centres of Excellence in Canada and abroad, European embassies in Canada, and governmental and non-governmental organizations.
