The Centre for European Studies at Carleton University is pleased to announce the publication of European Union Centres of Excellence in Canada: Best Practices edited by Natasha Joukovskaia and Joan DeBardeleben. This publication outlines the best practices as accumulated by the five Canadian European Union Centres of Excellence (EUCEs) from 2009 to 2012. These EUCEs are at Carleton University, Dalhousie University, Université de Montréal in consortium with McGill University, University of Toronto in consortium with the University of Victoria and York University.
The publication describes the wealth of experience the EUCEs have gained over the past four years. The goals of the EUCEs have been to make the EU experience more relevant to a Canadian audience, to relate EU issues to the local context and policy environment and to stimulate academic and public debate on EU issues. Overall, the goal is to increase the awareness of European integration and its impact. This publication outlines what these universities have learned over the last four years of their activities.
