Anca Gurzu, a research assistant for the Centre of European Studies (CES), is one of the winners of the 2012-2013 Graduate Student Open Access Award. The award of $1000 is presented by the Carleton Library, the Graduate Student Association (GSA) and the Office of the Vice President (Research & International) (OVPRI). The award is given to a member of the GSA who successfully publishes a paper in open access journal. The award was established to support Carleton University graduate students in publishing research in open access journals. Anca’s article, entitled “Safe Country of Origin List at the EU Level: the Bargaining Process and its Implications,” was published in the Review of European and Russian Affairs (RERA). This journal is published by CES and is a joint project of the Canada-Europe Transatlantic Dialogue and the Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies. RERA is an electronic academic journal publishing short works of graduate and post-graduate students and young scholars (original essays, research articles, editorials, notes, book reviews) on topics related to the European Union, its member states, the former Soviet Union, and Central and Eastern Europe.
