In this video, Dr Michael Johns discusses the ways in which EU policy has changed conditions of migration within the union, and explores how EU institutions can respond to the emerging challenges of social cohesion in relation to this migration. Dr Johns is the Chair of the Political Science Department at Laurentian University, and served as Vice-Dean of Arts at the Barrie Campus.

The video was recorded at a lecture Dr Johns delivered at Carleton University on January 30, 2015, entitled: “Canary in the Coal Mine? Intra-EU Migration, Social Cohesion, and the Future of the European Union.”

The event was sponsored by the Carleton Centre for European Studies (an EU Centre of Excellence). The CES receives funding from the European Union and Carleton University.
