Dr. Voynikov is Assistant Professor and Chair of International and European Law at Immanuel Kant Federal Baltic University (IKBFU) in Kaliningrad. He serves as Coordinator of the European Law section at the EU Centre of Excellence at IKBFU. Dr. Voynikov is a member of the Governing Body of the Russian Association of European Studies and Chairman of the Kaliningrad Regional Branch of the Association of European Studies.

His current research interests focus on the Common Space on Freedom, Security, and Justice; cooperation between Russia and the European Union; EU-Russia visa-free dialogue; and the Local Border Traffic regime between Russia and Poland.

Major areas of research: cooperation between Russia and the EU; EU Space on Freedom, Security and Justice, European law, Schengen regulations and international civil law.
