The Centre for European Studies at Carleton University administers an EU Learning Project. The project includes in-class presentations; lesson plans and on-line instructional materials developed to fit the Ontario curriculum in a variety of courses; and programs for teachers, held at Carleton University.
Since 2011, CES has hosted a one day workshop for teachers with the purpose of assisting them with their programming; we are planning this year’s workshop for Friday, November 18, 2016. We are inviting the participation of teachers from across the three boards: Upper Canada District School Board, Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, and Ottawa Catholic School Board. Our aim is to augment teachers’ knowledge of the major political, economic, and cultural challenges facing the EU and European countries, as well as Canada-Europe relations.
The Centre can provide a daily parking permit for attending the workshop. Refreshments in the morning and lunch will also be provided.
The workshop will include an overview of the EU and enriched modules on a range of topics:
- European environmental strategy and international climate negotiations
- Canada-Europe Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA)
- Brexit- What’s next for the UK and the EU?
