There are three things you must do throughout your work term:

It is your responsibility to read and follow these requirements in order to receive a grade of SAT on your work term. Students with an UNSatisfactory grade will not be allowed to continue in the Co-op Program.

Important Information:

Work Term Course and Fee

You will automatically be registered in the appropriate work term course. This will trigger the application of a work term fee to your student account which you are responsible for paying. For more information regarding co-op fees, please click here: https://carleton.ca/co-op/how-does-co-op-work/program-cost/

If you accepted an offer of employment for a co-op position that is longer than four months (8, 12 or 16 months) you will be registered in the work term course prior to the beginning of each work term indicated in the offer.  The total number of work term course registrations may exceed the minimum number of work terms required in your program. You are still responsible, however, for the work term fee and the deliverables of each work term course.

Course Registration While on a Work Term

While on a work term, in addition to the Co-op Work Term Course, you are limited to registration in one half-credit (0.5) academic course (unless otherwise approved). The course must be outside of regular working hours.  Course registration will be monitored.

Health Plan Coverage

If you are working in the Fall semester you are NOT automatically covered under the CUSA Health plan (for undergrads) or the GSA Health Plan (for grad students) at any point during the school year. Those who wish to opt into the plan for the year must contact the CUSA office (undergrads) or the GSA office (grad students) by the posted deadlines, which are in early fall of every year.

Scholarships, TA or OSAP

It is your responsibility to communicate with Awards and Financial Aid and/or the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs with regard to the status of your scholarship, TA-ship, or OSAP loan while participating in the Co-op Program.

U-Pass

You will automatically be assessed the U-Pass fee once you are registered in the work term course for the fall, winter, or summer term.  You can find information on renewing your U-Pass or opting out while on a Co-op Work Term here:  https://carleton.ca/upass/.

Contact the Co-op Office at 613-520-4331 or via co-opprogram@carleton.ca should you have any questions or concerns during your work term.

The Co-operative Education Office wishes you a fulfilling and challenging work experience!
