Visiting Scholar: Dr. Catherine O’Sullivan

The Institute of Criminology and Criminal Justice welcomes Visiting Scholar, Dr. Catherine O’Sullivan.

Dr. Catherine O’Sullivan, a law lecturer at the University College of Cork, Ireland, is a graduate of U.C.C. (B.C.L, LL.M.) and completed a Ph.D. at Osgoode Hall Law School, Canada. Her main research interests lie in Criminal Law, Criminology, Gender and the Law, and Law and Popular Culture.  She is one of the founding members of the interdisciplinary M.A. in Criminology (2005) and B.A. in Criminology (2014).  She was a founding member of the Centre for Criminal Justice and Human Rights and served as Co-Director from November 2010-February 2013.

Dr. O’Sullivan is currently a Director on the Sexual Violence Centre Cork (SVCC).  She has published on topics such as: violent female sexual offenders, assisted suicide, abortion, and age of consent law. She is a co-author of a leading student and practitioner text, Criminal Law in Ireland: Cases and Materials (2010), and of Fundamentals of the Irish Legal System (2016).  She is also one of the founding editors of the Irish Journal of Legal Studies (www.ijls.ie).
