About cutheme Training
An overview of cutheme training and how it is structured
Welcome to our cuTheme training. We are excited to show you around our latest theme! There are lots of exciting new things to explore but much will still be familiar to you if you have worked in our Carleton CMS sites before.

Training Structure
cuTheme Training is divided into three parts:
- Getting Started
- Advanced Training
- cuTheme Mastery
Getting Started: cuTheme Essentials
The Getting Started section is designed to introduce you to the foundational workings of cuTheme and enable you to jump in straight away. Learn how to do basic editing, create pages and posts, work with key blocks, and more.
Advanced Training
The advanced series will teach you to work with next-level content types (such as people and events). You will also learn how to pull information onto pages using card and listing blocks.
cuTheme Mastery
Become a cuTheme Ninja! Learn the more advanced functionalities of cuTheme, such as how to use specialized blocks, including quotes, columns, and description lists.
How it Works
Each training topic consists of the following:
- Step-by-Step: step-by-step instructions for each topic, formatted in bullet points.
- Video and Transcript: narrated videos that provide a walkthrough of the topic. A transcript is also provided.
- Try It Out!: a series of tasks designed to test your knowledge.
If you are looking for a specific topic, use the search bar or visit cuTheme Training Topics on the homepage where you will see everything listed out index style. Click to jump to the specific info you are interested in.
Resources
cuTheme Sandbox
The cuTheme Sandbox is a site where you can practice and test things out in cuTheme without worrying about making changes to your own site. Feel free to test out features, move things around, and generally just explore the tools cuTheme has to offer. Access the site by signing in with your Carleton credentials.
Block Library
Visit the Block Library for design examples and ideas on how to use all of the different blocks in cuTheme. And be sure to check out the Resources section of this site to see what else we have to help you along your training journey.
