EURUS is pleased to welcome Dr. Ivan Simić as a new postdoctoral fellow in the Institute. Ivan joins us from the University of Calgary. He has earned his PhD at University College London in the UK as a FBB Trust and SSEES Foundation scholar, and MA at the University of Bremen and Jacobs University Bremen in Germany. He has taught courses at UCL and Goldsmiths, and has finished a research fellowship at Yale University.

The focus of Ivan’s work is Eastern European gender history, particularly aiming to position Yugoslav history in a transnational perspective. His first book on Soviet influences on Yugoslav postwar gender policies will be published with Palgrave in 2018. At EURUS, he will start a new research project that will examine communist gender policies towards Muslim minorities in Eastern Europe, looking at the transnational flow of ideas and practices. This project will be supervised by EURUS Professor Jeff Sahadeo.
