The Jean Monnet Chair in EU External Relations, held by Professor Crina Viju-Miljusevic, is hosting a young scholars one-day research conference on Friday, March 31, 2023. The theme of the conference is competitive models of “Regionalism in Eurasia.”

The region represents a unique geopolitical grouping of states whose historical legacies and institutional shapes inform the changes and challenges to cooperation. Eurasia provides a unique case study of overlapping regionalisms pursued by three core actors: the European Union, the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China.

The research conference will be an interdisciplinary forum where junior scholars (graduate students and young scholars) from different fields can come together and share their scholarship. This conference is held in a hybrid format with presentations in-person and via Zoom.

The deadline to submit a proposal to present is Friday, March 3, 2023.  Presenters will have approximately 15 minutes to present their research, followed by comments from experts and questions and feedback from the audience. The conference will be free for both presenters and participants.

To submit a proposal, please email crina.viju@carleton.ca with the following information:

  • Full Name
  • Title of presentation
  • Approximately 200-word abstract
  • University
  • Program

Presenters will not be required to submit a full written version of the paper in advance of the conference.
